³¼QUARTZ SUMMER¼³
³¼CONFERENCE REPORT¼³
¹
The party was held on 8th and 9th of
August in Bridgwater, Somerset, UK. It
took place in a hall of a sports cen-
tre, which wasn't very big. But it was
big enough, because just 150 people
showed up. The only thing missing in
the hall was a huge video screen. The
organizers put 4 TVs in front of the
hall. On each of them the current demo,
GFX etc could be seen.
In the same building there was a bar, a
couple of pool and snooker tables and
some other things to entertain the bo-
red party visitors. Unfortunately some
of the promises weren't held. Hey Jaz!
Where was the aqua park? Or did you
mean the puddles on the car park? Haha!
Sleeping was nearly impossible. The
guys who wanted to sleep, had to use
the floor of the party hall, which was
of course rather noisy. And if someone
finally fell asleep, some funmakers
tied him up or put adhesive tape on his
mouth. I didn't want to be a victim of
that so I stayed awake.
Who was there? Well, unfortunately
nearly no one of the famous british
guys were present. There was just 1
member from Anarchy, 1 from Dual Crew
and just nobody from Digital. That was
disappointing. Here are some other
groups I can remember being present:
Quartz, Delicious Designs, The Silents,
Destiny, LSD, Anthrox, Cybernetix,
Doom, Futura, Phobia, EOC 1999, Dimen
sion X... Lots of people left after the
first day and in the evening of the 2nd
day, about 20 freaks were left.
There was also lack of releases at the
party. I can just remember Grapevine
Issue 11, Dual Crew Messagebox Issue 4
and some other crap...
About the competitions: There were of
course the usual compos like Demo, GFX
and Music. The voting was done via vo-
ting sheet, as it should always be.
Here are the results:
Demo:
³1. Paradroid/Anarchy (150 Pounds)¹
2. Ranx/Quartz (70 Pounds)
3. Majic Mushroom/Quartz (30 Pounds)
Graphics:
³1. Elwood/Delicious Designs (50 Pounds)¹
2. Fish/LSD (25 Pounds)
3. Scorch/Independent (10 Pounds)
Music:
³1. Snare/Quartz (50 Pounds)¹
2. Bernard Sumner/LSD (25 Pounds)
3. Fobia/Silents (10 Pounds)
There were also a couple of other com-
petitions like disk throwing and real-
time demo, but I don't have the results
of them, sorry...
Well, all in all it was a funny and
well organized party, even if the ex-
pected people were missing.
